People often ask me what budget-friendly massage chair I recommend the most. Luckily, there are many options for anyone at any given time. Unfortunately, it’s quite difficult to choose any one massage chair and claim it to be the best.
That’s why I take the time to look into various models and compare them to alternatives in their specific “expertise.”
Today, I’m looking into the Relaxon Massage Chair MK-II Plus. Users and the company claim that this model is:
- Highly therapeutic
Here is a quick overview of this massage recliner:
For a massage recliner under $1700, the MK-II is a reasonable purchase. It’s certainly not the best massage recliner in any category, but it’s a good enough chair.
However, for the price and features, I’d recommend the Kahuna LM-6800 instead. Keep reading to find out why.
About The Relaxonchair Company
Unlike other companies, Relaxonchair only has two massage chairs. Depending on your point of view, it can either be considered good or bad.
You’ll appreciate that Relaxonchair has multiple raving customer reviews. What’s most attractive is that the customer reviews are almost always about the wonderful customer service.
The company takes time to handle customer concerns. That means you’re always guaranteed exact and helpful responses. It also helps that Relaxonchair is always timely in their responses.
You can’t go wrong with a company that ensures your satisfaction. Despite that, not everyone can be placed. That said, negative reviews are few and far between.
On the other hand, it’s not very good if you’re looking for a company with multiple choices that can cater to specific needs. Personally, I don’t mind having little choices.
However, if I don’t find a chair that specifically addresses my needs or fits me perfectly, I will likely move on to a different company despite the stellar customer service.
That said, it can also be a good thing. The company will be able to focus on its current chair products or improving them. It’s also more likely that the company will be able to focus on customer support because there are few factors to think of if you’re only working with two products.
Aside from that, you may be wondering where Relaxon models are manufactured. These massage recliners are manufactured in China.
You may be wondering if that’s a good thing. After all, China-made products don’t have the best track record when it comes to quality.
I’ll tackle the controversy that surrounds chair models made in PRC next time.
Summary: Relaxon is a reasonably reliable company that produces low-end yet high-quality therapeutic massage chairs. These PRC-manufactured massage chairs rival that of bigger budget-names in the industry. They have stellar customer service and bad reviews regarding the company are few and far between.
RELAXONCHAIR MK-II Plus Chair Review (Features)
The Relaxonchair MK-II Shaitsu massage chair is the more “high-end” option of the two Relaxonchair full body massage recliners. It features many therapeutic functions for an affordable price.
However, you may not enjoy that it is incredibly huge. It does not have a space-saving design, so it eats up a lot of your room space.
Fully reclined, it requires at least 19.5” of wall clearance. If you think that’s bad, you’ll need an additional 18” for the extendable footrest.
It features rollers for moving around, which is bittersweet. It weighs 183 lbs, so unless you want to damage your floors, you will need help moving it around or installing it.
If you don’t mind those minor inconveniences, you’ll love the following features:
Multiple Zero Gravity Stages – This is one of the best features of the MK-II. You’ll be able to choose between three zero-gravity stages. Each of which will allow you to enjoy a deeper recline and more weightless position.
This essentially removes strain from your body and allows you to enjoy a deeper massage experience. Your body will put more pressure on the rollers, which in turn will feel like you’re getting a more intense deep tissue massage.
L-Track Massage System – Unlike other budget-friendly options that feature an S-Track massage system, the MK-II massage recliner features L-Track design. You’ll love the extra attention on your hips, kneading, tapping, bottom, and thighs alongside your back. Whereas other models only focus on your back.
Full-body Air Massage System – If you’re not a big fan of shiatsu or more intense massage techniques, you’ll enjoy the air compression massage on this unit. The MK-II features multiple airbags that cater to nearly all parts of your body except for your back, thighs, neck, and head.
This massage technique is ideal if you want to release tension in your body. It also facilitates good blood flow and allows you to feel more relaxed. Coupled with the roller massage feature, it’s a great finishing massage.
Easy Assembly – Unlike other units that require assembly, the MK-II makes it a bit easier for you. The massage recliner comes with all of the parts attached. All you need to do is connect the metal poles located underneath the foot massage mechanism. It doesn’t require any tools to assemble as well, so you should be good to go after 5 minutes.
Summary: The MK-II Plus comes with a lot of higher-end features despite the budget-friendly price. You’ll enjoy relaxing on this massage chair with the different techniques programmed into it. Despite its bulk and heavy weight, you should be able to make the most out of its great features.

Reliability and Warranty
The MK-II Plus comes with a standard 3-Year Limited Warranty. It covers:
- First Year: Parts and Labor – The company will handle the shipping and transportation costs of all parts and labor necessary if a service center is unavailable in your area. Otherwise, a repair technician will be sent to your home to perform the repairs at no additional cost.
- Second Year: Parts – If you encounter parts that are deemed defective, the company will send a replacement free of charge. However, you will need to handle the labor fees or repair it yourself.
- Third Year: Structural Frame – This covers the unlikely event that the body frame of your Relaxonchair breaks.
The customer service is stellar, and you can expect quick to please responses. Tech-support is based in the USA and allows you to call or email them without any problem.
Free Curbside Shipping – You’ll enjoy the free curbside delivery with every purchase. It will be delivered to any address you choose, but it does require a signature to be released. Unfortunately, you will need to bring it into your home yourself unless you get the white-glove service for an added fee.
White-Glove Service – If you want a hassle-free installation and delivery, you could opt for the white-glove service. This is a very convenient way to get your massage chair delivered and installed into your home without any hassle. They’ll even clean up after installing your unit.
If you’re ordering from Hawaii or Alaska, your order will include a standard fee for delivery and shipping.

Relaxonchair MK-ii Plus vs Kahuna Lm6800
The Relaxonchair MK-II Plus presents a valiant effort against the Kahuna LM6800. Understandably, Kahuna is at the lead. After all, it is one of the most recognized massage chair companies in the world.
I’ve discussed a fee of the MK-II’s cons above, but how does the Kahuna measure up to it?
- Space Saving – unlike the MK-II Plus, the LM6800 features an attractive space-saving design. It allows you to keep your room uncluttered and saves you precious wall clearance.
- White-Glove Service – Despite the added white-glove service option on the Relaxonchair model, the Kahuna features the same service free of charge. This not only saves you time and money, but it’s also more convenient.
- Yoga Stretching – The LM6800 comes with a very relaxing yoga stretching feature. It allows you to reap the benefits of yoga without putting in the effort.
- Massage Options – the Kahuna packed the LM6800 with 6 preset functions and 5 manual modes. Whereas the MK-II only has 4 automatic functions and 5 specific manual adjustments.
About Kahuna Massage Chair
A massage chair that will let you fully relax during your session. This chair has 4 rotation speeds, 20 massage speeds, and 4 massage settings. We suggest you don’t put the legs of the chair in the air during your session. A massage chair that makes you feel like you’re in a hammock in a remote wilderness? This thing will make even the laziest members of your family get off their asses and get moving. This is a lounger chair with a 50-degree recline, so you can comfortably hang out for a while and take a nap without the danger of falling out, even if you’re a little “lazy”.
It also reclines to 200 degrees and has a massage feature that helps loosen up your muscles, while the headrest contains an air-supplied cooling fan to aid in achieving a quick-drying yet comfortable massage. The classic floating-chair design offers a long-standing and popular focal point for the living room, while the panoramic room-integrated high-definition television set ensures the entertainment is perfect. With no media player or other device required, you can simply recline and enjoy yourself.
How Much Does a Shiatsu Massage Chair Weigh?
In terms of mass, a traditional massage chair tends to weigh about 10 to 15 pounds per chair, but most styles are light enough to be moved around with just your hands. Massage chairs, however, have more weight and more features than traditional chairs, so it’s important to know what to look for when shopping for one. The ideal massage chair should weigh no more than 20 pounds and have a base that is 12 to 24 inches high. Most also have height adjustment buttons and handles for easy maneuvering, which will let you move the chair with ease.
What Types of Massage Chairs Are Available? If you want a massage chair that provides one-on-one attention, you’ll have to look elsewhere. That’s because most massaging chairs feature different functions. For example, some models offer a heated seat, while others offer massage functionality. The most common type of massage chair is reclining, though heated, foot-based massage chairs are also available.
Final Words. What is the Best Alternative?
The Relaxonchair MK-II presents a valiant effort to challenge Kahuna’s top spot. It comes with a lot of great features and the customer service is also very reliable and efficient.
Despite its bulky size and heavyweight, the massage chair offers some top of the line features like:
- Three-stage Zero Gravity Positioning – this is the latest development in Zero Gravity recliners. You will not be able to find a chair with more than three zero-g positions yet.
- SL-track massage – you’ll enjoy the hybrid massage track on these massage recliners. It also features a special Buttocks Lock feature that essentially focuses a massage on your bottom.
However, I still find myself keen on the Kahuna LM-6800. They’re on even ground when it comes to customer service and company reliability. Both chairs are also manufactured in China.
Despite the MK-II’s great features, it still seems lacking when compared to the LM6800.
The LM6800 is space-efficient and automatically comes with a white-glove service to start with. It also features a therapeutic yoga stretching feature that is beneficial for anyone. It also has more massage functions that are ultimately more efficient.
Summary: If you want to get the best value for your money, the Kahuna LM-6800 has more reliable features. It also looks more attractive and even saves you space. Its free white glove service also lends to it being more price-worthy compared to the Relaxonchair MK-II Plus model.
